  • A citizen of Canada or a permanent resident

Note:

Being a sponsored spouse or partner you can’t sponsor someone else for 5 years from the date of your arrival. Once your application for Canada spouse visa is finalized, you can start working in Canada

Same-sex marriage is acceptable in Canada and same-sex partners can apply for the spousal sponsorship program if they meet all the eligibility needs.
